Flipping through Pages Was Never the Hard Part

Looking for a Flipsnack or Issuu alternative? Pholio turns the same flipbook catalog into something buyers can also order from, without a separate form.

Tools like Issuu and Flipsnack solved a real problem. A PDF catalog that used to be a slow, clunky download became something a buyer could actually flip through on a phone, page by page, the way you'd flip through an actual magazine. That's not a small thing. For years, reading a B2B wholesale catalog meant scrolling a static document that fought you the whole way. These tools fixed that, and they fixed it well.

What they didn't touch is what happens next. A buyer flips through, likes four pieces, and reaches the end of the catalog with nowhere to go but back to email, or a separate order form, or a "contact us" button that starts the whole slow process over again. The reading experience got better. The actual job — turning interest into an order — never moved. If anything, a nicer flipbook makes this harder to notice, because the catalog feels modern right up until the exact moment a buyer wants to act, and only then do they find out the part that matters most was never built.

A flipbook that turns pages beautifully and a catalog that can take an order are two different products wearing the same interface. Most tools in this category only ever built the first one.

Pholio builds toward the opposite outcome. A product pin sits on the page the way it would in a printed catalog, except tapping it doesn't open a new tab or start a new form — it adds the piece to a wishlist, or starts an order, right there, mid-flip. The same motion that made a buyer stop on a page is the motion that places the order. Nothing closes, nothing reopens somewhere else.

It's the same idea as flipping through an actual magazine and just remembering what you liked, except here the catalog remembers it for you, automatically, the moment you tap. That's also where the warm and hot leads come from on the other end: a wishlist or a submitted order can only exist because browsing and buying were built as one motion instead of two separate tools stitched together.

A catalog that's pleasant to read but stops at the last page is still, underneath it, a PDF with better manners. Flipping through pages was never the hard part. Buying without leaving the page is.
